Examine whether the gospel as we interpret it today embodies the jubilee vision of the Bible.
“Impact investor” Kim Tan took part in a very unusual spiritual challenge. He lived in a community of forty adults who assisted each other in buying houses, sharing material wealth, and releasing surplus to help others. The experience was based on the Jubilee vision of the Bible as found in Leviticus 25 and was undertaken to determine if the gospel as we interpret it today really embodies this vision. Jubilee and Social Justice walks us through the Jubilee vision as given in the covenant to Israel at Mt. Sinai and traces it through the New Testament. The book then focuses on expressions of Jubilee in various individuals and groups in today’s modern world including communities sharing wealth, cancellation of debt, stewarding the environment, and more. It might very well catch you imagining how the aspects of Jubilee might be realized in your life as well.
