Dirk Dumpler, a humble, self-employed trash collector, finds his mundane daily life blown by the winds of change into a rollercoaster ride of life-altering and chaotic events. With the help of assorted discarded items he has collected over the years, Dirk and his wife, Darlene, seek to unravel the mystery of his existence in this world-to answer life's most fundamental personal question: "Who am I?"
Their heartwarming and surprise-filled journey leads them to places and people they could never have imagined. Dirk's quirky gift of humour opens doors he didn't know existed as he is literally thrust onto the local, national, and world stages. While he's skyrocketing to fame, the stumbling block of Dirk's origin wreaks havoc in his life and emotions.
A tapestry of seemingly unrelated occurrences unfolds and allows wrongs to be righted and hurts to be healed. Like invisible dominoes, simple interlocking events play out to create a great work of art-one that can't be fully appreciated until one stands back and takes in the masterpiece as a whole.
