F. Scott Spencer (PhD, University of Durham, England) is the New Testament General Editor for The SBL Study Bible and author of numerous articles and books. He has been a tenured professor at Wingate University and Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond and is a past president of the Southeast Commission for the Study of Religion (SECSOR). He regularly preaches and teaches in area churches and has served several interim pastorates. He has acted in university, seminary, and community theater productions, and enjoys playing guitar and singing folk and country tunes.
