This book compares and contrasts a selection of biblical women's stories with those of their Ancient Near Eastern and Ancient Greek counterparts who lived in Egypt, Mesopotamia, and Greece during the Biblical period and who's characterization and plotlines all share parallel storylines. The book examines the parallels in the plots and compares and contrasts how and why these women successfully obtain and maintain agency within their predominantly patriarchal societies.
