How often do we pray the Our Father without stopping to consider the depth of the words Jesus himself taught us?
The Our Father, also known as the Lord''s Prayer, is more than a familiar prayer--it is the prayer of the Christian family. Across generations and around the world, believers unite their voices with Christ and one another every time they pray, "Our Father."
In We Dare to Say, Neal Lozano, founder of Heart of the Father Ministries and author of the bestselling book Unbound: A Practical Guide to Deliverance, invites readers to rediscover the power and beauty of the prayer Jesus gave his disciples. Moving line by line through the Our Father, Lozano reveals what this timeless prayer teaches about God the Father, his kingdom, and the mission Christ entrusted to his Church. Whether you have prayed these words for decades or are seeking to deepen your relationship with God, this book will help you embrace the Lord's Prayer with renewed faith and greater intention.
At the heart of this book are two transformative insights:
- Jesus taught us these words because he prayed them himself. Every time we pray the Our Father, we join Jesus in the prayer he knows by heart.
- Jesus shares his mission with us. Each petition draws us into Christ's work of revealing the Father, building his kingdom, reconciling sinners, and overcoming evil. The Our Father not only brings us closer to God--it also forms us to live as disciples who continue Christ's mission in the world.
Through these reflections, you'll discover
- why the disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray,
- how to cultivate time alone with the Father in prayer,
- the essential role of the Holy Spirit in Christian prayer,
- why the Our Father is the prayer that unites the entire Christian family,
- what the Our Father reveals when prayed during the Mass, and
- the meaning of the doxology that follows the Our Father in the liturgy.
The Our Father was never meant to be merely recited--it was meant to transform us. Allow the Holy Spirit to lead you more fully into the prayer Jesus taught, help you discover the Father's heart, and aid you in experiencing the familiar words of the Lord's Prayer with deeper wonder, trust, and joy.
