This book introduces the witness and theology of Archbishop Oscar Romero through his preaching--the primary vehicle of his teaching. Romero's complete homilies have been translated and are available in 4 large volumes. This presents a dozen of his prophetic sermons, beginning with his sermon following the death of Rutilio Grande, and concluding with his final homily on the day of his assassination 1980. The book is organized around several themes: The New Archbishop; Romero and the Church; Preaching the Gospel of Christ; A Prophetic and Persecuted People; A True Church of the Poor; Romero's Final Words. Each part and sermon is introduced with preface highlighting the context and significance of the message.
