Tablemakers is an interactive Vacation Bible School where children learn that everyone is welcome at God's table. Across five Bible stories, kids meet people whose lives were changed as they shared a table with friends and strangers and encountered God in new ways — models for curiosity, reaching across differences, and creating spaces where all are included. Through singing, worship, crafts, games, and Bible stories, children are empowered to invite others to find their place at God's table, just as God has made room for them.
Goals: Empower children to welcome and make room for everyone at God's table
Celebrate the joy of differences that make us stronger together
Inspire children to lead with kindness, compassion, and care
Help children build new friendships and experience true belonging
Invite children to experience God's love in ways that change hearts and lives
The five days of Bible stories: Day 1 — Abraham and Sarah are Tablemakers (Genesis 17:1–8, 15–19; 18:1–15; 21:1–7): Abraham and Sarah welcome three strangers to their table and receive shocking news. Tablemakers are curious and welcoming.
Day 2 — Abigail is a Tablemaker (1 Samuel 25:1–35): Abigail steps in to stop a fight brewing over food. Tablemakers make friends instead of enemies.
Day 3 — King David is a Tablemaker (2 Samuel 5:1–5; 8:15–9:13): An unexpected guest is invited to eat at the king's table every day. Tablemakers notice the needs of others.
Day 4 — Jesus is a Tablemaker (Luke 19:1–10): Jesus invites himself to the home of someone many people didn't like — and lives are changed. Tablemakers share the love of God that changes people's hearts.
Day 5 — We Are Tablemakers (Acts 6:1–7): The early church makes sure everyone has enough to eat. Tablemakers share with one another so that everyone has what they need.
