This volume is dedicated to the history of the Faculty of Protestant Theology in Mainz since its founding in 1946 and thus closes a research gap in the field of university faculty historiography. The contributions combine perspectives on the history of institutions, ideas and individuals. Among other things, the development of subject specializations and biographical studies of important research figures are discussed. Particular attention is paid to the founding phase of the faculty (until 1962), the role of women in studies and teaching as well as the intra-faculty dynamics in socially challenging times.
