This course will explore the various issues as well as processes and skills involved in interpreting the Bible. By building understanding of the composition, sources, historical contexts, inspiration, and varying types of literature of the Bible this course seeks to help persons develop a framework within which to read and interpret the Biblical passages.
This curriculum had its origins in the teaching ministry of the First Christian Church of Orange, California. The ministerial staff, Ben Bohren, Claudia Highbaugh, and myself developed a five session study on "Interpretation of the Bible." I want to acknowledge with gratitude their work. Although this curriculum has gone through several editions over the years, their work is still present in several of these sessions.
