Davie Spanier left his home and family after saving or seven years to sail to a new land. In America he could acquire 160 acres of land after Abraham Lincoln had signed the Homestead Act granting that amount to anyone who had never taken up Arms against America. Davie was willing to do what was necessary to achieve his goals. When he meets Charity, a girl he could only dream about on the ship bringing him across the Atlantic he wanted to learn all about her.
She liked the look of Davie, but when she saw him on deck having an encounter with another girl she can't help but think he's a womanizer and her Father gives her very explicit instructions about Davie Spanier Charity always listens to and obeys her father even if she doesn't agree with his dictates.
I have always loved to read and I was hooked after reading Rebecca by Daphne DuMaurier. I was fortunate to be a stay-at-home Mom to I and my husband's two boys and two girls. When they were all in school, I went back to the work force although my home and family was most important to me. My parents were very loving and faith filled and they instilled that faith in their eight boys and five girls. After losing my husband to cancer I began writing short stories which were published, but I wanted to try a novel and began by writing the story of Davie. I hope you enjoy reading about him as much as I enjoyed bringing his story to life.
