What does it mean to celebrate the sacraments in a way that makes the synodal Church visible?
One of the most urgent questions to emerge from the Synod on Synodality examines how our daily sacramental life expresses who we are as a synodal church and people of God. In Sacraments as Walking Together, Stephen Wilibricht, CSC, offers the baptized a helpful guide for learning to walk together in the Spirit, and to celebrate the liturgy and sacraments with ever greater awareness of their synodal depth.
In Sacraments as Walking Together, Wilbricht offers the Church a rich and timely exploration of celebrating the seven sacraments in a synodal manner--not as personal achievements in individual faith journeys, but as shared acts of communion, participation and mission. Drawing on the liturgical renewal initiated by the Second Vatican Council and the ongoing reception of the Synod on Synodality, Wilibricht encourages those walking together as Church to embrace a relational, ecclesial, and missionary sacramental imagination. Sacraments as Walking Together continues to unfold the vision of the Second Vatican Council in calling for an engagement with the sacramental life of the Church that is committed to build up the Body of Christ for the sake of serving the world.
