According to the Justice Department the United States has over 3100 county jails. If they are like the one I worked in, around 70% of violators are there due to drugs and drug related crimes. Most inmates will serve their time and be out, back doing just what they did before. Jail doesn't cure anybody. Only God can change a heart. From a Christian's viewpoint, this also presents a field for evangelism. It takes a special person, and the follow-up has some tough challenges. The intention of this book is to present my personal experiences with that outreach in my own city. This includes over 160 anecdotes of conversations with inmates, insights into the types of people I worked with and the frustrations of follow up once they were released. Hundreds of inmates prayed with me to receive Christ as their Savior. Thousands of Bible study sheets were completed, and hundreds of group studies were led by volunteers.
