The worldwide Neo-Sannyas Movement of the Indian guru Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh (1931-1990) was in Germany the largest religious-alternative commune movement that has ever existed in this country. No other religious movement provoked such a large media response intense public debates. The organization has now largely disintegrated, but has left a lasting mark on German culture.
