Evangelization - this term triggers different associations and at the same time raises questions: What is meant? What is the relationship between the worthy testimony of faith and the mediality of the Christian testimony of life? Is the term aimed more at a defined setting of actions or at the quality of these actions as
gospel? And how should this gospel be defined more precisely in the field of tension between church/community and pluralizing societies? Theologians from Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, Great Britain and the USA discussed these questions at the conference of the same name from October 5 to 7, 2024 in the Swiss monastery of Kappel. The essays are united by the awareness that evangelization is a central and enduring expression of the Christian faith. Evangelisation - dieser Begriff lost unterschiedliche Assoziationen aus und wirft zugleich Fragen auf: Was ist gemeint? Wie stehen das worthafte Glaubenszeugnis und die Medialitat christlichen Lebenszeugnisses zueinander? Zielt der Begriff eher auf ein definiertes Setting von Handlungen oder auf die Qualitat dieser Handlungen als
Evangelium? Und wie ware dieses Evangelium im Spannungsfeld zwischen Kirche/Gemeinde und sich pluralisierenden Gesellschaften genauer zu bestimmen? Zu diesen Fragen diskutierten Theologen/innen aus der Schweiz, Deutschland, den Niederlanden, Grossbritannien und den USA vom 5. bis 7. Oktober 2024 auf der gleichnamigen Konferenz im schweizerischen Kloster Kappel. Die Aufsatze eint das Bewusstsein, dass Evangelisation ein zentraler und bleibender Ausdruck des christlichen Glaubens ist.
