My Indian Jatra describes the coming of independence and other significant events in the history of India by an American who lived and worked there from 1946 to 1989. A teacher of English, Frances Major later became principal and administrator of two fine schools in Calcutta. She is now retired and lives at Brooks-Howell Home in Asheville, N C.
My Indian Jatra is history and love combined in a moving story of what it means to live a life less ordinary for the good of others.
