As you flip through the TV channels during the Christmas season, you'll probably come across A Charlie Brown Christmas. This holiday favorite challenges us to live the true spirit of Christmas instead of getting caught up in the pomp and commercialism of the season. LinC looks at the spirit of Christmas and explores ways that we can honor God's priorities in our holiday celebrations. Key Scriptures: Luke 1:46-55; Luke 2:1-20; Luke 4:16-21; John 1:1-14. In The Day the Earth Stood Still, a remake of the 1951 sci-fi classic, an extraterrestrial named Klaatu chides humanity for its treatment of the earth and decides that human beings must be destroyed to save the planet. Next week we’ll look at some of the crises facing humanity and the earth, but we will not advocate for the destruction of humankind. Instead we’ll look to the gospel and remember that God rules our world, redeems the world through Christ, and calls us to participate in God’s redemptive work.
