Christmas brings out the child in each one of us. Perhaps it is because, at Christmas, God came to live among us as a small, vulnerable child who would grow up to teach, "Whoever becomes humble like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 18:4). This week LinC explores the importance of having a childlike faith and living as children of God. Just as Mary, Joseph, and the shepherds had faith in the person Jesus would become, God has faith in who we can become. Key Scriptures: Isaiah 11:1-9; Matthew 18:1-5; Luke 2:1-20; John 3:1-10. The calendar you use probably indicates that a new year begins late next week. But according to the Christian calendar, the new year began a few weeks ago with the start of Advent. Next Sunday, a full four weeks into the new liturgical year, we'll take a look at the Christian calendar and how the seasons and special days of the Christian year tell the story of Christ's work of redemption and remind us of who we are, what we believe, and what we value.
