In the December 11 issue, LinC takes a look at how best-selling novelist Anne Rice, after a recent conversion experience, has decided to stop writing her popular vampire novels. Instead, she is now devoting her gifts and energy to writing novels about Christ. Not all Christians have dramatic conversion experiences, but all of us need to live a life of conversion—of turning back toward God. Key Scriptures: Luke 3:10-14; Acts 9:1-30; Romans 13:11-12. In the December 18 issue, LinC reminds us it’s the fourth Sunday of Advent, a day to celebrate the liberating power of Christ’s arrival. We know that Christ came to proclaim “good news to the poor,” “release to the captives,” “recovery of sight to the blind,” and to “let the oppressed go free.” While Jesus ministered to people who were materially poor, physically blind, and politically oppressed, each one of us is also poor, enslaved, blind, or oppressed in some way—and each of us needs to be freed by Christ.
