Earlier this month the Pennsylvania attorney general indicted Jerry Sandusky, a former assistant coach with the Penn State football program, on forty counts of sex crimes against minors. Later the Penn State board of trustees fired head football coach Joe Paterno and school president Graham Spanier, saying that both had missed opportunities to stop Sandusky. Because it involves a high-profile university with a nationally ranked football team, this scandal has drawn attention to the millions of people affected by child abuse. After a slow start the Denver Broncos are in the thick of the NFL Playoff hunt. While many players have had a hand in the Broncos’ recent success, Denver has won 5 of the 6 games it has played since Tim Tebow took over as starting quarterback. Tebow’s style of play is unconventional and his numbers aren’t always impressive, but he consistently makes dramatic, game-winning plays in the fourth quarter and overtime. Tebow, a former college star and Heisman Trophy winner, has always been open about his Christian faith, making him a role model for many.
