One of the hardest parts about transitioning from childhood to adolescence is outgrowing childhood legends such as Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy. In the new movie Rise of the Guardians these childhood champions join forces to fight evil. Even if you’re not eager to watch a superhero Santa Claus on the big screen, there are probably other ways that you wouldn’t mind holding on to childhood just a little longer. Jesus actually instructs us to have faith like children. LinC reminds us that we will always be God’s children, no matter how old we get, and that we can hold onto a childlike sense of wonder and innocence well into our teenage and adult years. Christians know this time of year as the Advent season but, for our culture as a whole, it is best known as Christmas shopping season. Over the next few weeks people will flock to stores and websites hoping to find the perfect gifts for everyone on their lists. The best gifts are a blessing to the receiver and a reflection of the giver. This is true not only of Christmas presents but also of God’s gifts. LinC looks at the gifts God has given us, how they are blessings, and how they reflect the Giver. We’ll also discuss ways that we can readily give of ourselves in God’s name.
