The BBC’s Doctor Who has been entertaining science-fiction fans since 1963. The first episode of the show’s most recent incarnation drew over one million viewers in North America. The doctor travels to destinations all over the world—in the past, in the present, and in the future. LinC celebrates the beginning of Advent season in which we look to the past, when Jesus came to live among us; to the present, when Jesus comes to us through the Holy Spirit; and to the future, when Jesus will come again to make all things new. The much-praised documentary Waiting for “Superman” follows several students through the Washington D.C. school system and looks at the obstacles they face as they strive to get a quality education. The title refers to the students’ longing for someone or something to come along and make everything better. The Advent season is all about a similar longing.
