In the November 27 issue, LinC recognizes a group of teenage girls in Pennsylvania who recently organized a “girlcott” of clothing retailer Abercrombie & Fitch®, protesting T-shirt slogans that they found tasteless, suggestive, and exploitative. Earlier this month Abercrombie & Fitch® decided it would no longer carry the shirts in its stores. The girls’ success is just one example of how young people can use their God-given gifts, abilities, and energy to effect positive change. Key Scriptures: 1 Samuel 17:32-49; Isaiah 61:1-2; Luke 1:13-20, 26-37, 57-66; 4:16-24; John 13:3-5; 1 Timothy 4:11-16. In the December 4 issue, LinC points out that in some ways Christmas has become more a secular holiday—a celebration of shopping and overeating—than a day to celebrate one of the most important moments in the story of our salvation. This holiday season, how can we emphasize the first syllable in “Christmas”—Christ?
