In the November 21 issue, LinC takes a look at MMOGs—”massively multiplayer online games.” People around the world are immersing themselves in these games. The big MMOG this holiday season is the much anticipated EverQuest II. Like other Internet phenomena, MMOGs raise fundamental questions about how we interact with others and what it means to be in community. In the November 28 issue, LinC reminds us that many families will spend Thanksgiving Day huddled around the television watching football. And many players, when they make big plays, will point to the sky or say a prayer of thanks. But Thanksgiving is more than a holiday or a response to our successes: It is a way of life.
