Now that most states offer early voting, many voters are better off going to the polls ahead of time instead of braving long lines on Election Day. But plenty of people who have ample opportunities to mark their ballots before November 6 will wait until the last minute, trying to squeeze in a trip to the polls along with their usual Tuesday work, school, and family obligations. Procrastination is a common ailment in our culture. We put off school papers and projects, household chores, and even trips to the doctor. LinC talks about procrastination and how we can make faithful use of God’s gift of time and take advantage of the opportunities that God provides. Key Scriptures: Proverbs 13:4; Ecclesiastes 3:1-8; Matthew 26:36-46; Luke 9:59-62. We’re only a couple days away from Election Day. By next week we’ll know who our president will be for the next four years and who will be in Congress for the next two. Regardless of which candidates are victorious in Tuesday’s elections, a lot of people will be disappointed in the results. But, as Christians, we put our trust in God, not elected leaders. No matter who sits in the White House or votes for legislation in the Senate, the world is in God’s hands. Next week we’ll talk about how we can develop a radical trust in God. (Note: LinC goes to press on Tuesday morning, so we will put together next week’s issue without knowing election winners.)
