When Apple co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs died earlier this month, nearly every major media outlet ran stories about how Jobs had changed the world through the introduction of products such as the Macintosh computer, the iPod, and the iPhone, as well as through his involvement in the creation of Pixar animation studios. Steve Jobs definitely had a huge impact on the way people live their lives, and we should celebrate his accomplishments. But millions of lesser-known people change the world each day in ways that have nothing to do with technological innovation. LinC looks at how we, as Christians, can transform the world by following Jesus’ example. Key Scriptures: Jeremiah 1:4-10; John 6:1-13; Romans 12:1-2. Earlier this month open-wheel racing lost one of its great champions when reigning Indianapolis 500 winner Dan Wheldon died in a 15-car crash at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Wheldon’s family, crew, and fellow drivers, along with thousands of fans, gathered last weekend at memorial services in Florida and Indianapolis to mourn his passing. Grief is real and it is something that we all experience. Jesus himself knew the pain of grief. Next week is All Saints’ Sunday, the day of the Christian calendar when we remember those who have died in the past year. LinC discusses death and mourning and how God’s grace is with us when we grieve.
