Can you keep a secret? In NBC's new drama The Event, authorities are keeping a big secret involving members of a superhuman species who are being held in a detention center in Alaska. Whether and how this secret will be revealed is one of the show's interwoven plot lines. Most of us have some experience with secrets. Keeping secrets is one way we gain our friends' trust. But are there some secrets that shouldn't be kept? LinC looks at how Scripture can help us deal with secrets involving abuse or dangerous behavior. Key Scriptures: 2 Samuel 11–12; Esther 7; Psalm 51; Ecclesiastes 4:9-12. Fall is a time for festivals, and many communities have already held fall celebrations, complete with bonfires, hayrides, games, and caramel apples. As Halloween approaches, the seasonal fun continues. While the Christian life is one of sacrifice and devotion, fun and play are also part of God's plan for us. In Scripture God ordains festivals and tells us to be like children; David dances for joy; and Ecclesiastes tells us to find enjoyment. Next week LinC talks about how we can enjoy godly fun.
