This year's presidential election has received unprecedented amounts of media coverage, but much of this coverage hasn't focused on issues or policy proposals. The media has been easily distracted by provocative campaign ads, trivial matters from the candidates' personal lives, and the blunders and gaffes that inevitably happen during a presidential campaign. Sometimes the candidates use these distractions to their advantage; other times they beg the media to focus on what's important. This week LinC looks at how we as Christians can shut out distractions and focus on what's truly important: our personal relationship with Christ. Key Scriptures: 1 Kings 3:1-15; Mark 4:21-25; Luke 10:38-42. What do you see when you think of God? Gandalf? A voice in the sky? A shepherd? Jesus? Next week LinC explores the images of God found in the Bible and how Christ is the fullest image we can use to know God better.
