Sunday is September 11, the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Time has not healed all wounds for those who lost family and loved ones. As we reflect on this dark moment in our nation’s history, we should also be in prayer for those places in the world that are experiencing death and destruction right now. LinC looks back on 9/11 and also takes a look at the drought and famine in East Africa that has already claimed the lives of 29,000 Somali children and has put 3.7 million people at risk of starving to death. Key Scriptures: Isaiah 58:1-10; Mark 6:34-44; Hebrews 13:15-16 The 2011 college football season began last week. For football fans, having actual games to watch was a welcome break from the ongoing coverage of recruiting scandals and rules violations involving some of the nation’s most successful programs. Several high-profile college football teams are under investigation or on probation for cheating of some sort, and the problem doesn’t seem to be going away. Of course, cheating is hardly limited to major college sports. People in all walks of life cheat to gain an advantage over their peers or competitors. Next week we’ll talk about cheating and look at ways that we can replace a win-at-all-costs attitude with an attitude of Christian cooperation.
