Today’s high unemployment levels are hard on people of all ages, including teens. And the lack of entry-level, full-time jobs is worrisome for young people who will be graduating from high school and college in the coming years. This Labor Day weekend we'll look at the important work God has in store for all of us, regardless of our career or our employment status. What is important is that we have a faithful, Christian understanding of work. Key Scriptures: Genesis 2:4b-9, 15; Matthew 20:1-16; Luke 3:10-14; 1 Peter 2:9. The word
frenemy, meaning a person who seems to be a friend but is actually an enemy, has become a part of the English lexicon in recent years. And social-networking websites have given us the words
unfriend and
defriend. Such words are common in a culture where many people have a fuzzy understanding of friendship. Next week we'll talk about frenemies and defriending, and we'll also look at ways in which Christians can nurture friendships that honor God.
