The Disney-Pixar classic Finding Nemo is returning to theaters, this time in 3D. Fans of the original movie will get to see the adventures of Marlin, Dory, and Nemo with new eyes. People who first saw the film when it debuted nine years ago will no doubt rediscover their love for the story about a clownfish in search of his lost son. As Christians we all have times when we need to rediscover our love of God and passion for faith. Often this involves looking at God from new perspectives and paying attention to things we hadn’t noticed before. The upcoming star-studded film The Words tells the story of a struggling novelist, Rory Jansen, who finally achieves success after finding an anonymous manuscript and publishing it under his own name. Jansen gets the book sales and critical accolades that for so long had eluded him, but he sacrifices his integrity. And it catches up with him. The technology available to us today allows us to pass off someone else’s work as our own with the tap of a finger. It also allows us to illegally obtain an endless supply of free music, photos, and videos without legal repercussions. But even if we don’t get in trouble with the feds, such actions affect our integrity. Next week we’ll talk about integrity and how our faith influences our use of technology.
