The presidential campaign has been in full swing for more than a year, and we’ve not even had the party conventions yet. Many who are weary of the non-stop coverage are wondering if November 4 will ever arrive. This week we’ll use this seemingly endless campaign as an opportunity to talk about expectant waiting. As Christians, we wait expectantly, not for Election Day, but for the coming of God’s kingdom. And God has given us plenty of work to do that will keep us from becoming bored or anxious while we wait. Key Scriptures: Genesis 12:1-4; 21:1-7; Isaiah 40:1-5; 25-31; Revelation 2:1-11. While many people find these ads especially offensive, subversive marketing campaigns are nothing new. Next week we’ll look at how Christians can respond faithfully to the many advertisements we encounter.
