On History's popular show Pawn Stars, people who think they may be in possession of treasures bring their items to the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas, where experts determine the items' true value. Some people are delighted to learn that an heirloom collecting dust in their attic is worth a small fortune; others are disappointed to find out that a collectable isn't worth nearly as much as they'd hoped. All of the treasures on Pawn Stars are earthly treasures. LinC looks at spiritual treasures—valuables that no pawn shop can put a price tag on—and we'll discuss what it means to store up "treasures in heaven" (Matthew 6:20). The World is a comic-book adaptation in which the title character must confront his would-be girlfriend's "seven evil exes." While the challenges that we face involve much less cartoon violence than those facing Scott Pilgrim, we must have the courage to stand our ground when we feel as though the world is against us.
