As a new school year begins you will be spending more time among your peers, including those with whom you don’t get along. Most people struggle with the temptation to attack their enemies with gossip or to exclude them. Jesus tells us that we not only must resist this temptation but also that we should love and pray for our enemies. LinC explores what it means to treat all of our classmates as our neighbors and to love them as Christ loves us. Key Scriptures: Proverbs 11:9, 12-13; Matthew 22:34-40; Ephesians 4:29; James 3:1-18. Did you hear that they’re remaking Footloose? and Dirty Dancing? and Charlie’s Angels (the TV series)? This summer has already seen reboots of the X-Men and Planet of the Apes movie franchises and a televised remake of Teen Wolf. The purpose of most of these movies and television shows is to introduce formerly popular characters and stories to a new generation. Christians also have the challenge of telling a story to new generations. But we must do so in ways that don’t compromise our core beliefs and practices. Next week LinC looks at how we can reveal our faith to other young people today.
