In The Dark Knight, the latest Batman movie, our hero faces several moral dilemmas (largely thanks to his nemesis, the Joker). He strives to act righteously, but often finds himself in situations where the distinction between right and wrong is not obvious. Like Batman, we all struggle with righteous living. This week LinC looks at how to find the wisdom and strength to make right decisions. Key Scriptures: Denteronomy 30:15-20; Romans 7:15-25; Hebrews 4:14-16. On August 28, for the first time in history, an African American will accept a major party's nomination for the presidency of the United States. Not insignificantly, August 28 is also the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s “I Have a Dream” speech, a landmark moment in the Civil Rights Movement. Regardless of our politics, it is important that we know our history and celebrate the lives and contributions of those who went before us. Next week LinC looks specifically at our Christian history—telling the story of our faith and celebrating the work of the saints—and the importance of memory in faith formation.
