The seventh season of Fox Network's popular dance-off, So You Think You Can Dance, is nearing its finale. All summer the country's best young dancers have advanced not only by doing what they do best but also by learning and interpreting styles of dance that were previously unfamiliar to them. Christians are no strangers to learning and interpreting. Every time we approach Scripture, the Holy Spirit guides us as we interpret and learn from what we are reading. A plan to build a Muslim community center two blocks away from the former site of the World Trade Center ("Ground Zero") has drawn criticism from national political figures who consider the center a monument to the Muslim extremists who attacked Manhattan on September 11, 2001. This controversy, as well as similar controversies surrounding new mosques and Muslim centers elsewhere in the country, raises questions about interfaith relations and what it means for us, as Christians, to love our Muslim neighbors.
