In the July 31 issue, LinC takes a look at Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which got off to a fast start, selling nearly 9 million copies its first day. Big numbers mean big expectations, and fans hope the book doesn’t disappoint. Many youth also know the difficulty of living up to lofty expectations. But we can take comfort in knowing that if we put our greatest expectations in God’s promises, we will not be disappointed. Key Scriptures: Psalm 146; Proverbs 13:12; John 14:1-14; 1 John 2:15-17. In the August 7 issue, LinC reminds us that Tiger Woods recently won the British Open, his second major championship this year and tenth for his career. Many feel that Tiger has a good chance of breaking Jack Nicklaus’s all-time record of eighteen majors, but breaking the record will require several more years of practice, focus, and commitment. The same can be said for living a life of Christian discipleship.
