Underage drinking is often thought of as a problem on college campuses; but about three-fourths of American teens have consumed alcohol before graduating from high school. One-fourth have their first drink before the age of 13. This week, July 29, LinC reminds you that whether you are headed off to college, attend a summer party where alcohol is served, or end up in other situations where you are tempted to drink, you need to honor God, the law, and your own body when making decisions about alcohol. Key Scriptures: Genesis 9:18-23; Matthew 22:15-22; John 2:4b; Romans 14:13-23; Ephesians 5:18. Millions of Americans have inadequate healthcare. As policymakers, pundits, and activists debate the best way to meet these people's needs, LinC looks at health from a Christian perspective. On August 5, LinC reminds us that Jesus calls us to be healers, to work for the physical and spiritual well-being of all of God's children. How do we promote health and healthy living in the church? How do we care for our society's most vulnerable people? And how can we apply Christ's teachings to the healthcare debate in our country?
