In the July 16 issue, LinC takes a look at TLC's new reality series Shalom in the Home. The show enlists a rabbi to help families find peace, or "shalom." Tensions between parents and teenagers are nothing new, and even the most loving families sometimes find themselves in desperate need of "shalom." Fortunately, Scripture shows us how we can be God's agents of love and peace at home with our families. Key Scriptures: Matthew 5:21-24; John 13:3-17; Galatians 5:13-26. In the July 23 issue, LinC explores this summer's biggest animated movie, Cars, the story of a hot-shot racecar that gets lost and must rely on help from jalopies and other undesirable vehicles. The film raises questions about our cultural notions of status and self-worth. As the body of Christ, we must eliminate any pecking order based on income, appearance, or accomplishments.
