Have you been enjoying the World Cup? Fans from dozens of countries have packed the stadiums in South Africa, blowing vuvuzelas and cheering for their favorite teams. Hundreds of millions more have been watching live matches on their televisions and computers. Few events generate as much enthusiasm and excitement as the World Cup. Christians can learn from the passion of the world's soccer fans. We should be at least as excited about God's kingdom as a soccer buff is about a match between Slovenia and Algeria. This month consumers lined up to get their hands on the iPhone 4, a device that features video calling, HD recording, and a display whose clarity rivals that of the printed page. High-definition picture is in high demand these days, and a large-scale adoption of 3D television is on the horizon. We are enjoying television, cinema, music, and the Web with unprecedented clarity and perspective. But with what degree of clarity do we perceive our faith, our relationship with God, and the world in which we live?
