Recently a 23-year-old Harvard student was apprehended on charges that he had forged academic records and letters of recommendation to gain acceptance into the prestigious university and to win thousands of dollars in grant, scholarship, and financial aid money. Not content with his own gifts and accomplishments, this student allegedly relied instead on fraud. This week LinC celebrates our unique, God-given gifts and explores ways that we can live as the people God created us to be instead of trying to become someone we're not. Key Scriptures: Genesis 27:1-35; Matthew 25:14-30; Luke 9:23-27; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Galatians 5:22-25. VH1's new show You're Cut Off! debuts this week. The program follows nine young women from very wealthy families who must cope without the money, comforts, and conveniences that their families' money has provided. VH1 describes the show as "spoiled rotten rehab." You're Cut Off! examines the power of materialism and entitlement, two topics that we'll explore in next week's LinC. What are the dangers of materialism and entitlement? What does it mean to be spoiled? Can we be obsessed with worldly things without even knowing it?
