It’s time for summer movie sequels. Perhaps this season’s most anticipated sequel is Men in Black 3, in which Agent J (Will Smith’s character) must travel back in time to save his partner, Agent K. Most of us would like to have the ability to travel through time and correct past mistakes. While we don’t have the technology to change past events, we can move on from them, knowing that God—in Christ—forgives us and calls us to forgive others. LinC looks at how we “correct” the past and discusses repentence, which literally means to turn away from past mistakes and head in a new direction. Key Scriptures: Psalm 51; Ezekiel 18:19-23; Acts 9:1-31; Romans. Many European nations are struggling with a severe debt crisis. And since we have close economic relationships with many countries in Europe, the debt crisis there has an impact on the economy in the United States. No one in our world is completely independent. We all rely on other people, and we all have other people who rely on us. For this reason we must hold one another accountable. Next week we’ll talk about Christian accountability and our responsibilities toward our brothers and sisters in Christ and toward all of the people God has created.
