School is winding down and summer vacation is just weeks (or days) away. With camps, church trips, sports, summer jobs, and other commitments, many youth are just as busy during summer vacation as they are during the school year. While there's some value in keeping busy and in not being idle, Scripture reminds us of the importance of rest. LinC looks at God's instructions for us to honor the sabbath and explores ways in which we can set aside time for sabbath rest this summer. Key Scriptures: Exodus 31:16-18; Ecclsiastes 3:9-13; Mark 2:23—3:6. According to the National Center for Crime Prevention, over 40 percent of teens report having been victims of cyber-bullying. Some victims even have committed suicide to escape incessant online harassment and humiliation. While bullying is nothing new, technology allows bullies to attack without having to look victims in the face. And often these victims suffer in isolation. Next week we'll look at cyber-bullying, why it has become such a problem, and why it cannot be tolerated. We'll explore unacceptable online behaviors and discuss how we can respond when we are witnesses or victims of cyber-bullying.
