Summer is nearly upon us. Even if you already have a lot planned this summer, chances are there will still be opportunities to make decisions about how to use your time. Will you watch television or go swimming? Will you go to the movies or join the group from church that is volunteering down at the food bank? LinC looks at how our faith guides the decisions we make regarding our time, and we’ll do some planning for the summer: What do you hope to accomplish this summer? How do you hope to serve God and others in the coming months? How do you hope to grow in faith and love? Key Scriptures: Galatians 5:16-26; Philippians 3:10-16; Colossians 3:23-24. It’s time for summer movie sequels. Perhaps this season’s most anticipated sequel is Men in Black 3, in which Agent J (Will Smith’s character) must travel back in time to save his partner, Agent K. Most of us would like to have the ability to travel through time and correct past mistakes. While we don’t have the technology to change past events, we can move on from them, knowing that God—in Christ—forgives us and calls us to forgive others. Next week LinC looks at how we “correct” the past and discusses repentence, which literally means to turn away from past mistakes and head in a new direction.
