Iron Man, this summer's first big-budget, comic-book-inspired action flick, is the story of Tony Stark, a wealthy and genius inventor who creates a high-tech armor suit, which he then wears to become the superhero Iron Man. Some critics have suggested that the star of the film is not Robert Downey, Jr. (who plays the title character) but the armor itself. With that in mind, this week LinC looks at the "armor of God" in Ephesians 6:10-17 and how God arms us to stand up against evil and injustice. Key Scriptures: 1 Samuel 17:31-50; Isaiah 59:9-20; Ephesians 1:15-23; 6:10-20. Rising prices, crop shortages, and other factors have caused a global food crisis. Several nations are struggling to meet their essential food needs; and in the United States, food banks are rationing their limited supplies. Next week LinC talks about food, how God uses us to meet people's needs, how our well-being is related to the well-being of others, and what we can do to respond to the current crisis.
