On April 15, LinC looks at the new game show, Are You Smarter Than a Fifth-Grader? The show tests contestants to see if they have retained knowledge they learned in grade school, demonstrating that if we don’t use what we’ve learned, we’ll lose it. The same is true for Christians: We need to make a habit of reading and studying the Bible so that the story of our faith remains fresh and relevant to our lives. Key Scriptures: Deuteronomy 6:6-9; Joshua 1:8-9; Ezekiel 3:1-14; Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23; Luke 2:41-52; Acts 2:42-47. The “Axis of Evil Comedy Tour” features a trio of comedians with Middle Eastern roots who use humor to dispel stereotypes about Arabs and Muslims. The new book Religious Literacy, by Stephen Prothero, argues that Americans are “religiously illiterate” and need to be better informed about their faith and the faiths of others. On April 22, LinC looks at ways we can better know and understand our Muslim neighbors while reaffirming our own Christian faith.
