April 1st is April Fools’ Day and Palm Sunday (something that won’t happen again until 2091). LinC will honor the double holiday by considering how foolish Jesus must have looked to the political and religious authorities who watched his entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. But, as Paul teaches us, God’s wisdom and purpose often seems foolish by human standards. For this reason, we should take pride in being fools for Christ. Key Scriptures: Isaiah 52:13–53:12; Mark 11:1-11; 1 Corinthians 1:18-25. Following the trials and sorrow of Holy Week, next week’s LinC will celebrate another glorious Easter Sunday. The women who visited Jesus’ tomb on that first Easter morning and the disciples who encountered the risen Christ on the road to Emmaus became the first Christian storytellers. For nearly two millennia our faith has grown and spread throughout the world, with thanks in large part to people who have been bold enough to tell the incredible story of Jesus’ resurrection. Next week we’ll take another look at what happened on the first Easter and explore ways that we can keep telling the story of Jesus’ triumph over death.
