As Holy Week begins, Jewish families and congregations will be preparing to celebrate Passover, which begins Monday at sunset. The Passover celebration, which commemorates the Israelites’ escape from slavery in Egypt, was the reason that Jesus, an observant Jew, traveled to Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. His final meal with his disciples was a Passover seder meal. LinC talks about Passover, the role that it plays in the story of our faith, and its connection to the Christian sacrament of Holy Communion. Key Scriptures: Exodus 12:1-13; 12:14-20; 13:3-10; Luke 22:7-20. On Easter Sunday morning we’ll awake to the good news that Christ has risen! On his last evening with his disciples, Jesus told them, “I have conquered the world” (John 16:33, CEB). Often the world in which we live feels nothing like a world "conquered” by Christ. People still experience pain and hopelessness; people still suffer and die. But through it all, we know that God’s love will win in the end. Next week LinC reminds us that as we look forward to an eternity with God, we can live today as conquerers who have overcome the world through the love of Christ.
