In the new movie, The Vow, a married woman wakes up in a hospital following a car accident with no memory of her husband or marriage. The situation puts the couple’s wedding vows to the test. How can a couple honor a lifetime covenant when one person doesn’t even recognize the other? The Vow raises all sorts of questions about promises and commitment. LinC looks at the covenant relationship we have with God, the promises and commitments we make to God, and the promises and commitments God makes to us. Key Scriptures: Genesis 9:8-17; Judges 11:30-40; 1 Samuel 1:10-11, 24-28; Mark 14:27-31, 66-72. We are in the heart of the 2012 Primary season. Whenever a major election approaches, questions arise about the candidates’ faith and how it may affect their governing. Questions also arise about the faith of voters and how it should or should not influence their votes. Next week LinC looks at the relationship between faith and politics and how we can participate in the political process, not as members of a political party or supporters of a certain candidate, but as children of God and followers of Jesus.
