We all read them, and we all use them to describe ourselves and others. They’re labels. The new movie The Duff raises awareness of the damage labeling can have on our sense of self-worth. This week your teenagers will have the opportunity to examine the labels they and their friends wear, how they feel about those labels, and what they can do to resist accepting and assigning labels that diminish one another’s value as God’s children. Key Scriptures: 1 Samuel 17:24-37; Luke 7:36-50; 1 Corinthians 1:26-31. Addiction is something we read about online or see on the news, right? Too often we overlook addiction as a thing that happens to other people—not us. Next week in LinC we’ll look at the power addiction has to interrupt God’s work in our lives, if we let it. Together, we can help teens recognize the seriousness of addiction and the joy of claiming Christ as our rescuer.
