February was a rough month for sports fans. A British tabloid published a photo of fourteen-time, Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps smoking marijuana at a college party. Meanwhile Sports Illustrated revealed that baseball star Alex Rodriguez tested positive for steroids in 2003. These revelations were particularly upsetting because Phelps and Rodriguez are role models to so many people. This week we'll look at role models. We'll talk about how "no one is good but God alone" (Luke 18:19); how God works through flawed people; and how we, as Christians, should strive to set an example for others. Key Scriptures: John 18:18-19; Acts 9:1-9a; 1 Timothy 4:11-16. While many families are struggling during these difficult economic times, the recent financial crisis has had some positive consequences. For example, many families have had to cut down on eating out and are spending more time around the dinner table at home. Such quality fellowship is important for healthy family relationships. A healthy Christian family also comes together for fellowship around the dinner table. Next week we'll look at how we can be in fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ and with God.
